Economics in Public Policy: Goals

From 2005 to 2009 the Thomas R. Brown Foundation sponsored or co-sponsored various elements of an Economics and Public Policy project. This undertaking was expressly designed to bring a non-partisan and economic perspective to issues that are often perplexing, divisive, difficult, confusing, or clouded by inadequate or asymmetrical statistical resources. The project generated a series of public forums, invitational seminars, studies, reports, and bi-partisan conferences with Arizona state legislators and other state, county, and city representatives.  Topics addressed included:

Immigration and the Economy (2006, 2007, 2008);

Economics and Journalism: Covering the Issues from a local Perspective (2006);

Tucson Growth.(2008);

Powering Arizona (2009);.

Governing Arizona: Perspectives for the Future, an Economic Public Policy Assessment (2009).
