Goal

The goal of the Economics in Education Program is to increase teacher and student exposure to fundamental principles of economics throughout the education system and to help them develop an appreciation of how economic analysis applies to every day choices as well as business and policy issues.

This goal is achieved in several ways:

·         K – 12 Teacher Training programs educate teachers in basic economics.  Teachers are offered graduate credit through microeconomic and macro economic workshops taught by award-winning professors and classroom teachers. Click Teacher Programs button for details

·         Contemporary Topics  - teachers are invited to attend a wide array of topical workshops which are designed to allow the teachers to hone their analytic economic skills and to make them more knowledgeable regarding contemporary issues. These workshops include current topics of national or global importance. Programs such as Math and Economics for elementary teachers, and Environment and the Economy for high school teachers are examples of workshop opportunities. Click Teacher Programs button for details.

·       Online Economics Curricula and Current Events Resources -  teachers are provided two easy-to-use online resources. The Economics University offers numerous ready-made lessons for teachers' own review and for use with their students. Analysis Online is a resource of objective, non-partisan news articles and essays on hot topics in current events. Click Resources and Curriculum button for details.

·        Teacher Preparation - to help them meet the national and state Economic standards are part of our training program. Click Teacher Programs button for details.
